Current Issues in Language Planning reviews books related to language planning and policy (either explicit or implicit), either in polities or as related to specific issues. Descriptions of sociolinguistic situations or language education systems in various polities may deal with language policy issues implicitly. Issues related to topics like language revival, linguistic ecology, language and economics, language standardisation, indigenous languages, language and the media, language and work, language and religion, language and scientific communication and language and gender where language planning and policy are involved.
As part of a policy to provide in depth coverage of the field, the editors are interested in reviewing books published by smaller publishers and those written in lesser-used languages. While reviews published in the journal will be in English, reviewers may also wish to provide reviews in other languages for consideration for publication on this website. We hope these initiatives will make the literature on language planning and policy accessible to a wider audience.
